South African runner Caster Semenya has her gender put under scrutiny. 18-year-old Caster Semenya is refuting claims that her extraordinary performance in races may be down to the fact that she’s has amb­igu­o­­u­s genitalia. It seems some of Caster Semenya’s rivals aren't too happy she won the 800m nor the fact she looks suspiciously like a man.

It appears that Caster Semenya has the physical and muscularity, but her handlers insist that she is most certainly not a male.



However, doubts remain about the “way she runs” and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is looking into this and, will indeed be tested for chromosomal abnormalities. Experts have said she could suffer from a rare disorder that causes her to exhibit traits present in both male and female genders.

Semenya rose to fame after clocking 55.45 seconds on women’s world 800 meters Track and Field World Championships held in Berlin.



If it is proven she is a man, she will face the humiliation that only scandal brings and if the results prove she really is a woman, well she will have to face a whole different kind of humiliation. Caster Semenya moght end up like the Philippines had the case of Nancy Navalta.
